Widyatama & Grab Food Grow More Reliable Entrepreneur Candidate

Widyatama University students (UTama) in addition to being prepared to work after graduation, they are also continuously encouraged to become reliable business people.

One of them is through the Business Community Development unit, which is led by Ismail Solihin, M.Sc.

To the media crew he said that the development of startups (startup businessmen) in UTama was flourished. “In each generation, the number of startups in UTama continues to increase, including new students,” Ismail said, Tuesday (9/25/2019) afternoon, after the “Grow Your Business with GrabFood” workshop with Grab.

The trend of being an entrepreneur among students has now become millennial style. “They will not only become job seekers later, but also open job vacancies,” said Ismail.

They can join Business Development Community. The community formed by UTama to accelerate business acceleration. This year there are more than 200 students joined.

There, it will emerge candidate of students who have more interests, than students in general to open a business. He further explained that many of UTama alumni have become successful entrepreneurs. There are those who struggle in the fields of food, clothing, shoe washing services and others. “In the culinary field, we have successfully opened the restaurant Cekeran Midun, Mie Merapi and others,” Ismail said. UTama students themselves are given entrepreneurship material for two semesters.

At the first semester, they learn how to draw up a business plan, then in the following semester UTama provides the opportunity to do an expo to the general public, displaying their products. Another effort is to invite one of Grab’s online transportation service providers to hold a workshop.

The workshop, entitled “Grow Your Business with Grab Food” was a follow-up to the MoU between Grab and UTama.

It is an activity that characterizes as Link and Match between Widyatama University and Industry, especially with the need to adjust to the era of the industrial revolution 4.0

In this workshop, UTama invited several speakers namely, Leonard Boey (City GM & AMP; Regional Merchant Operational Manager), Perry Anggidio (Grab Food City Manager) and Fajar Mandala Wahyu Putra (Owner of Madu Si Bangkong Chicken).

For students in general, this workshop will provide specific knowledge related to business processes at GrabFood.

Then, specifically this workshop will also be useful for participants / students who already have a business in the culinary field.

Because GrabFood directly facilitates and makes it easy for participants, to be able to register their business with GrabFood so that their business can be in the GrabFood application.

“This delivery service can help students who will graduate, especially in the culinary business,” said Leonard.

He also added that the workshop could provide information from the business side of GrabFood.

“Student can immediately register a restaurant and make a profit joining by becoming a GrabFood partner,” he said.

On the same occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Business & Management, Dr. Deden Sutisna, explained that the implementation of the MoU conducted by UTama and Grab was a form of education for students.

“Practically this is part of the link and match, trying to give a factual picture on the ground,” Deden said.

So that their insights are open, encouraging them to become entrepreneurs, especially those who already have a business in the culinary field to become partners and develop well.

“The implementation of the activity is not just this time, in the future there are several events that we will do again,” he concluded.
