Almost all national sectors must be prepared for major changes in the face of the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0. Consequently, new approaches and capabilities are needed to build innovative and sustainable production systems.

“When a country appears to be involved in Industry 4.0, a comprehensive and sustainable industrial growth tends to occur. Therefore, efforts are needed so that Indonesia can implement Industry 4.0, “said Director General of Learning and Student Affairs Prof. Intan Ahmad was interrupted by his agenda to attend the Public Lecture with the theme “Answering the Challenges of Universities in Facing the Generation of Industrial Revolution Era 4.0” in the Seminar Room Building B, 6th Floor, Widyatama University, Saturday (31/3).

According to Prof. Intan, the qualifications of workers needed by each person must get used to doing a positive work habit, in work activities. Besides that, it is also supported by skill communication and writing in English. These things are deemed necessary to support industrial change in the direction of all technology.

Intan said that a great homework for the government was related to the changes in the industrial revolution. Information from BPS in the August 2017 period was recorded at 8.8% or 618,000 unemployed in Indonesia today. This figure could increase due to industrial change and reduce the number of human workers. Universities need to look for methods to develop student cognitive capacity: higher order mental skills, critical & systemic thinking, are very important to survive in the era of industrial revolution 4.0., added Intan.
