The Diploma of Accounting Study Program held a public lecture on Thursday, April 12, 2018 with speakers from Bank Sahabat Sampoerna. This activity is an effort to update knowledge and provides insight for students and lecturers related to the role of banking.
This public lecture was filled by speakers from Bank Sahabat Sampoerna, Hendry Bunardi, as Vice President of Head of Regional Business, West Java, who is also a Widyatama University Alumni. The activity entitled “The Role of Banking in order to improve Community welfare” was attended by approximately 100 students from Widyatama University in an effort to provide information about the importance of the banking sector in the community.
The thing that received the most attention from the financial services sector was the provision of business capital assistance and ease of interaction by using technology to make the transaction time more efficient for banks.
This activity was closed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Dr. R. Wedi Rusmawan K., S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA by expressing gratitude to the speaker and highlighting the ease of the community in interacting with information technology. These challenges will further narrow the opportunities for career graduates in the sector. With the increasingly easy use of technology, it will automatically replace the role of employees in their work, and it is not impossible that in the future the banking sector does not need human resources because it has been replaced by that technology. So he appealed to students so that before graduating they would equip themselves with other soft skills so they would have more added value when looking for other jobs.
Efforts to be made by the Diploma program of Accounting Study Program are in the form of curriculum changes that apply an informatics-based learning system in several subjects to balance the changes in the banking world towards digitalization.
