Saturday, April 13th 2019 at Widyatama University Multi-Purpose Building, Student Activity Unit conducted a festival by the title of Widyatama Journalism Festival 2019 under the theme “Kacamata Jurnalistik di Era Millenial” or the perspective of millennials in journalism. The event was in the form of an online competition and seminar presentation, and also talk shows where there were two speakers who were both activists in the journalistic field.
First speaker person was Mr. Tri Joko Her Riadi; he is a journalist at Pikiran Rakyat for the Bandung area, he delivered material on “The Role of the Mass Media in Changing the Community’s Mindset in the Millennium Era” where he conveyed the role of the media in print media since he is a journalist on how can this affect people’s mindset about news that are circulating in today’s society where news hoaxes are causing a lot of questions in the community.
Then the second speaker, Prita Kusuma Putri, is a journalist from one of the TV stations who is active as a news reporter on Net TV. The theme presented was actually the same but the difference was only in the role of the media. Prita conveyed about the role of electronic media in the millennial era and how the electronic role for the dissemination of news or news for consumption by the public.
Before the event was closed, the committee mentioned the winner of several competitions, started from the Essay, Poster and News Anchor competitions that had been held by online a month before the event was conducted. The event was closed by a presentation from the guest star, Petrus Mahendra, which was ended at 4:00 p.m. (Galih dwi yuniarsih)
