BANDUNG – The rapid pace of educational transformation in the digital age now demands the creation of cross-border synergies. Responding to this challage, Universitas Widyatama has demonstrated its dedication to building a world-class educational ecosystem through the Collaborative Teaching Widyatama and Malaysia 2025 event. The event, which took place online via Google Meet on Thursday (January 8, 2026), served as a platform for the exchange of ideas between Widyatama University academics and experts from Malaysia, discussing crucial issues regarding literacy and digital library management.
This program was not just an ordinary public lecture, but a strategic initiative to strengthen international educational cooperation. In a warm yet serious academic atmosphere, the two sister institutions agreed that mastery of information technology is the key to modern knowledge management.
The first session opened with an in-depth presentation by guest speaker Dr. Nor Zalina Zaharah Mohd Ariff from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia. Presenting material on the theme of “Management in Digital Libraries,” Dr. Nor Zalina explained the transformation of libraries from traditional styles to digital ecosystems that are now beginning to integrate with Artificial Intelligence (AI). She emphasized that the essence of digital libraries is not limited to the application of technology, but the main focus lies in the intelligent management of resources such as e-books and e-journals, as well as the urgency of digital preservation to protect intellectual assets from various threats, both physical and natural disasters. Furthermore, she highlighted the vital role of modern librarians, who are now required to have competent technical skills to ensure the accuracy and security of digital services.
This collaboration is a tangible reflection of Widyatama University’s commitment as an institution that consistently prioritizes educational quality in producing highly competitive graduates. Through this kind of sharing of teaching expertise, students gain direct exposure to international competency standards, ensuring they are ready to contribute not only nationally but also globally.
This progressive step is also in line with the grand vision of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, particularly the Library & Information Science Study Program at Widyatama University, which continues to encourage the integration of technology in every aspect of social humanities learning. It is hoped that this Collaborative Teaching between Widyatama and Malaysia can become the embryo for future joint research that will have a broad impact on the communities of both countries.
