On Tuesday (February 4), Widyatama University (UTama) welcomed a visit from SMKN 8 Bandung. The group arrived at around 12:30 p.m. at the Widyatama parking lot and was welcomed by the Marketing Bureau Public Relations team. The group was led by Mrs. Dra. Ida Widaningsih, Coordinator of Guidance Counselors and Chair of Visitation & TRY OUT SMKN 8 Bandung, who brought around 20 guidance counselors and 120 students.
The event began with a speech from the Head of the Marketing Bureau, Mrs. Devy M. Puspitasari, S.E., M.M., followed by a speech from the counselor of SMK Muhammadiah Sukabumi, Mrs. Ida Widaningsih. The next event was a simulation of the national exam conducted by the Marketing Bureau team to provide training for SMKN 8 Bandung so that they would be ready to take the national exam.
The purpose of the group’s visit to UTama was to provide SMK graduates with an understanding of higher education. This is because SMK graduates do not yet know whether they will continue on to higher education, work, or work while studying after graduating from SMK. As SMKN 8 Bandung is a vocational school, UTama provided insight into higher education and the study programs available at UTama.
The UTama Public Relations team provided SMK students with an understanding of the New Student Admissions process so that they can choose a study program when continuing their studies in higher education. In addition, they also provided insight that vocational students are free to choose the study program that interests them. Apart from providing this understanding, the visit was also used as a means to provide more detailed information about Widyatama University.
At the end of the event, the Head of the Bureau gave merchandise and souvenirs to the group and held a photo session together in the UTama Main Hall to foster familiarity and good relations between the two institutions.
