Three private universities in Bandung, namely Widyatama University (UTama), Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar), and ITENAS, held a cyber test on July 18, 2010, for the Joint Entrance Examination (UMB) for private universities.
The exam to screen prospective new students was held simultaneously with 33 PTS throughout Indonesia that are members of the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) – University of Indonesia. The UMB PTS is an efficient alternative for prospective students who wish to enter private universities while saving time, energy, and money. The exam fee is only IDR 150,000 for one choice at one PTS, IDR 200,000 for two choices at one or two PTS, and IDR 250,000 for three choices at one, two, or three PTS at once. These time, cost, and energy efficiencies are generally the reasons prospective students consider taking the UMB PTS. Exam participants are also given the convenience and flexibility to choose an exam location at the PTS closest to their residence.
Examinees do not need to take the exam at their chosen study program or university. This means that if prospective students choose a study program at Widyatama University, they can take the exam at a location closest to their domicile. For example, those in Jakarta can choose a location at Trisakti University or Tarumanagara University campuses and 33 other campuses throughout Indonesia. The exam uses a computer or cyber test system, which means that exam participants take the exam directly online in a computer lab at the private university they have chosen as their exam location.
