The Widyatama University Choir Student Unit in Bandung will hold a concert entitled “An Enchanted Classical Encounter” (A Journey Through Western Music from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era) on Saturday, July 17, 2010, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Widyatama University Auditorium in Bandung. The concert will feature conductor Farid Febriadi and pianist Andrew Sujana.
The title of the concert was chosen because it describes the series of songs that will be sung by the Widyatama Student Choir, which consists of classical songs that describe the journey of Western music from the Renaissance to the modern era. The word “ENCHANTED” itself symbolizes something amazing, and it is hoped that the audience will be entertained and enjoy the songs sung.
According to the concert organizer, Alfiardhi Maulana, Western music, especially in Europe, is mainstream for choirs around the world, including Indonesia. The journey of Western music is very interesting because it has a medium to high level of difficulty with easy listening rhythms. “In addition, Western music from the Middle Ages to the modern era shows the direction of choral music, which was initially more sacred (divine) in nature, becoming more secular (human life), so that in the concert ”AN ENCHANTED CLASSICAL ENCOUNTER” , we raised the theme of the Journey of Western Music from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era,” said the 2007 Accounting student.
The Widyatama University Choir was founded on the initiative of students who wanted to channel their interests and talents into a stable forum. It also aims to support internal protocol events such as graduations, university events (such as seminars), student exchange events, and concerts. In addition, the choir aims to achieve positive outcomes from its existence, such as discipline, togetherness, unity, sensitivity, and so on.
