Tuesday (October 24, 2023), Sanyo Construction Service Co.Ltd, a Japanese company engaged in construction, visited Widyatama University (UTama) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in collaboration with Widyatama University in the field of Higher Education Tridharma. The event was opened by Dr. R. Wedi Rusmawan Kusumah, S.E., M.SI., AK., C.A. as Vice Rector for Higher Education and Student Affairs. In his speech, he hoped that the cooperation between UTama and Sanyo Construction Service Lo.Ltd was not only on paper but could be implemented well by study programs at the engineering faculty, especially Civil Engineering.
“With the presence of Sanyo Construction Service Co.Ltd and the existence of this seminar, hopefully it can be used very well by all study programs, lecturers and students at the engineering faculty”. He said
Furthermore, Dr. R. Wedi Rusmawan Kusumah, S.E., M.SI., AK., C.A. and Mitshuhiro Okamura as Representative Director of Sanyo Construction Service Lo.Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of strengthening the Tridharma of Higher Education as an effort to overcome the risk of building damage during an earthquake.

As hoped by Vice Rector I, this visit was not only for the signing of cooperation, but also continued with the holding of a Seminar entitled “Innovation on Building Retrofitting Technologies Against Earthquakes” which was attended by students of the UTama Civil Engineering Study Program and several universities in Bandung. This event was held in Gd. A Seminar Room, 4th Floor of Widyatama University, Bandung, West Java. In this activity organized by the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University, Yasunobu Kashihara as Director of SDR Planning, Co.Ltd from Sanyo Construction Service Co.Ltd was the main speaker moderated by Yanyan Agustian, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D who is a lecturer in civil engineering as well as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Furthermore, the seminar material delivered by Yasunobu Kashihara explained that Japan and Indonesia are countries that have the potential for fructuative earthquakes, earthquake cases and damage that occur in Indonesia, Standardization of earthquake-resistant structures in Japan, Seismic diagnosis and renewal of earthquake structures (earthquake resistant countermeasures), Examples of strengthening seismic structures (selsmlcrelnforcement).
