On Thursday (15/12), the Bandung Santo Club (BSTC) Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Widyatama University, often known as Barongsai, along with their UKM advisors, flew to Hong Kong to attend the “Legend of Shaolin Memorial Cup 2016” event. This prestigious invitation was welcomed by the BSTC UKM, which prepared around 7 Widyatama students who are active in the organization to give their best performance in front of the guests. This competition was attended by 8 other countries, including Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, the United States, the Philippines, Malaysia, and the host, Hong Kong.
Widyatama‘s performance paid off, with the BSTC student club winning the Best Participant and Best Dress awards, beating four other countries. The Hong Kong community who watched the Widyatama lion dance performance gave them a lot of appreciation. They were amazed, even other countries’ citizens played like professionals when they saw Widyatama students performing the lion dance they brought from Indonesia.
