The Rector of Widyatama University. (UTama), Dr. Islahuzzaman, S.E., M.Si Ak., CA, along with the Vice Rectors, Deans, and other members of the rectorate, visited ITB on December 21, 2016. The visit was warmly welcomed by the Rector of the Bandung Technology Institute (ITB), Prof. Dr.Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA, who was also accompanied by other officials from ITB. We were received at the ITB rectorate building, Jalan Tamansari No. 64, Bandung.
The purpose of UTama’s visit to ITB was none other than to strengthen the relationship between the Rector of UTama and the Rector of ITB, who from 2001 to 2007 served as Assistant Rector for Planning and Development at Widyatama University. He was honored by the visit from his old friend from Widyatama.
During the meeting, the Rector of UTama conveyed various information regarding the conditions at UTama, both in relation to the development of new study programs, university management, and international programs. On that occasion, the Rector of UTama provided an overview of the plans to open new study programs in the exact sciences and hoped to receive input from ITB experts in realizing these new study programs. This was followed by an explanation from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Oktri Muhamad Firdaus, M.T., who technically explained the plan to open three new study programs, namely Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering Management, and Pharmacy. The Rector also added the management of postgraduate schools and the ongoing Student Exchange program between Widyatma University and the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC).
The Rector of ITB welcomed all programs that have been carried out by UTama, and fully supported the development and progress of UTama. He also said that as an internationalization crash program, there are many things that UTama can do, including improving the student exchange program, staff exchange, double degree, international seminars involving many countries, etc. Active participation is very open to UTama when ITB holds an International Seminar, so that it can be used for further cooperation with participating countries. On that occasion, Prof. Bermawi, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, explained the academic process at ITB, followed by Prof. Mindriany Shafila who presented ITB’s strategy in accepting new students, both regular and foreign students.
The warm welcome from the Rector of ITB and other officials broadened the university’s perspective on managing a higher education institution. The Rector hoped that UTama would become a mutually beneficial partner for ITB, and that the existing cooperation would be maintained and developed in the future.
