The Faculty of Languages will hold an international seminar entitled “Second Language Acquisition Research” on Wednesday and Thursday (October 20-21) at the Widyatama University Multipurpose Building. Keynote speakers will include Prof. Fujiwara Masanori (Kinjo Gakuin University, Nagoya, Japan), Prof. Dr. Sakamoto Tadashi (Nanzan University, Japan) as a guest lecturer, and Prof. Chaedar Alwasilah (Indonesia University of Education, Bandung). Studies on second language acquisition, better known as Second Language Acquisition (SLA), in Indonesia are still very limited and are still considered unfamiliar among teachers, observers, enthusiasts, and learners of foreign languages. Nowadays, the stigma surrounding foreign language teaching methods is shifting towards paying more attention to the process of second language acquisition. Two Japanese SLA experts and Indonesian linguistics experts will discuss and provide insights into what is known as SLA, as well as its basic concepts and research methods. For invitations and participant registration, please contact the Committee at 022 7275855 ext. 249 or contact Uning Kuraesin, Dra., M.Pd. (08122 023 876) via email at [email protected].
