Community Service Program for Lecturers at the Faculty of Business Management

This Community Service event was held in Celak Village, Gunung Halu District, West Bandung Regency, starting on November 7th, 2018, at the Gunung Halu Village Office and ending at Widyatama University on January 22nd, 2019. It is the duty of lecturers to carry out one of the pillars of the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education). It is an honor for us (the lecturer team) to be able to realize this with the aim of helping to improve the economy of rural communities that are still considered underdeveloped. The activity was attended by 94 lecturers from the Faculty of Business & Management UTama, the Graduate School UTama, the Faculty of Economics UTama, and 20 students from the Faculty of Business & Management UTama. Thanks to the cooperation and support of various parties who voluntarily contributed their materials, time, energy, and ideas, this PkM event was successfully held.

The PkM program began with the periodic dispatch of lecturers to the village of Celak in Gununghalu District, starting on November 7th, 2018, and ended with a return visit by 22 SMEs mentored by former Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) who came to Bandung for two days to attend training and workshops on how to make cookies in collaboration with Ina Cookies.

The event on January 22nd, 2019, began at 8:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room on the 4th floor of Building A. It was opened by Mr. H. Deden Sutisna M.N, S.E., M.Si. as Dean of the Faculty of Business & Management, followed by remarks from the chair of the PkM committee, Dr. Hj., R. Adjeng Mariana F, S.E., M.M., and a speech from Mr. Iwan Mustawan Azis, A.P, S.Sos, M.Si, as the head of economic planning for West Bandung Regency. After the opening ceremony, the event continued with an explanation of the main points of the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) counseling material, which included several topics from Widyatama lecturers, such as Entrepreneurship Applications, Production, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, and Export.

The participants who were the focus of this community service event numbered approximately 22 former Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) from the village of Celak in the Gunung Halu subdistrict. This community service program resulted in 22 new entrepreneurs. Following the presentation and briefing by the Main Faculty Team to the SME practitioners (approximately 8 hours), the event concluded precisely at 4:45 PM. Participants proceeded to the Poster Hotel for rest, and the event continued the following day on January 23rd, 2019, with a workshop on cake making at the Ina Cookies production facility.
