Improving the quality of an educational institution, especially higher education, is not only determined by the quality of teachers and curriculum. Facilities and infrastructure are also fundamental requirements that determine the quality of an educational institution. Currently, many companies report that a significant number of prospective employees fail health tests.
In this case, educational institutions are required not only to produce alumni who excel in academics, but also graduates who are physically and mentally fit. As a way to meet this need, Widyatama has opened a food court (canteen) in an effort to provide healthy, clean, and relatively affordable food facilities for students. Inaugurated by the chairperson of the Widyatama Foundation, Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah A.K., M.S., Ak on Friday (21/8) located on the ground floor of the Widyatama building, the food court named Food Festivia is a form of fulfilling the existing facility standards at Widyatama. The simple inauguration ceremony was attended by the Rector of Widyatama, Dr. Mame S. Sutoko, Ir. DEA. and several other rectorate officials as well as officials from the Widyatama Foundation.
Consisting of 12 tenants serving a variety of traditional dishes such as Gudheg and Mandarin cuisine, this food court facility will also be used as an educational facility for holding public discussions, book reviews, and art performances. This food court is an additional facility after Widyatama built a mini market that is also used as a retail management laboratory. With the construction of this facility, it is hoped that Widyatama can fulfill its commitment to improving educational facilities and providing a variety of economical healthy foods, as well as serving as a pilot project for the Widyatama campus food court standard. In addition, the construction of this food court is an effort to care for the environment by attracting vendors around the Widyatama area and supporting the local government’s K-3 program.
