7,400 People Visit the 2006 Widyatama Job Fair

A total of 7,400 visitors flocked to the Widyatama University (UTAMA) Job Fair, which took place on January 17-18, 2006, at the Widyatama University Auditorium, Jalan Cikutra 204, Bandung. Meanwhile, the number of job applications at the job fair reached 15,069 copies with 1,818 job opportunities from 92 types of jobs offered.

The number of companies that filled the stands at the job fair, which was organized by the Placement Office – Public Relations & Marketing in collaboration with the Student Senate of the Faculty of Economics, Widyatama University, reached 36 companies, while 20 other companies posted their job vacancies at the committee’s stand.

According to the Chair of the UTAMA Job Fair Organizing Committee, Tatat Setiawati, this job fair was held to facilitate communication between college graduates, especially alumni of Widyatama University and other colleges, and the world of work. “This event is open to all students, alumni of Widyatama University, alumni of other universities, and the general public without an entrance fee (free),” she said.

Additionally, Tatat mentioned that this second job fair is part of the work program of the Placement Office – Public Relations & Marketing at Widyatama University. The Widyatama Placement Office provides post-graduation services for university alumni. Besides organizing job fairs, it also conducts training programs for alumni. In addition to holding job fairs, it also conducts training sessions for alumni and road to company programs to bridge Widyatama graduates with the world of work.

At the UTAMA Job Fair, the organizing committee also provides facilities for visitors in the form of free TOEFL and TOEC tests. In addition, the committee also provides presentation and seminar sessions on job and business opportunities presented by a number of participating companies at their booths. Meanwhile, for the talk show on tips and tricks for finding the ideal job, the speakers included Gantyo (writer of the Job Opportunities column in Media Indonesia Daily), Anti Srihartati (Microsoft Indonesia), Latief Sastranegara (MM Widyatama University), and a representative from Human Resource Development Bank NISP.
