Monday (July 3), Universitas Widyatama, represented by Viddi Mardiansyah, S.Si., M.T as Head of the Cooperation Bureau, Devy Mawarnie Puspitasari, S.E., M.M. (Head of the Marketing Bureau), Erly Sherlita, S.E., M.SI., Ak., CA (Chair of the Bachelor of Accounting Program) and Sriyani Violina, S.T., M.T (Chair of the Bachelor of Information Technology Program) departed for Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This visit was intended to attend an invitation from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh for the “Indonesian Trade and Tourism Promotion (ITTP) 2017” event.
This event was one of the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia to introduce Indonesian products in Cambodia through a cultural, trade, and tourism exhibition that took place on July 7th-9th, 2017, at the Diamond Island Exhibition Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The eleventh edition of this event was officially opened by the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Pitono Purnomo. Also present at the exhibition was the Cambodian Minister of Commerce.
The Cambodian public showed great enthusiasm for visiting the exhibition and workshop, which featured approximately 70 exhibition stands displaying various daily necessities, medicines, food, beverages, batik, travel agencies offering tourism packages to various destinations in Indonesia, and two stands representing universities. In addition to Universitas Widyatama, another university, Airlangga University, also participated in this event.
Before participating in the cultural exhibition, on Wednesday (5/7) the group from Universitas Widyatama visited the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia to attend a technical meeting for the exhibition. The group was warmly welcomed by the First Secretary of the embassy, Mr. Abelian P. Yodha. The next day, the group visited the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) to discuss the continuation of the cooperation that has been established between NPIC and Universitas Widyatama. The cooperation includes the exchange of teaching staff, student exchange, global-based curriculum development, and other points of cooperation. The group was warmly welcomed by the President of NPIC, Dr. Bun Phearin.
Currently, the cooperation has been implemented by both parties in the form of student exchange in the 3+1 Joint Degree program. A total of 13 (thirteen) final year NPIC students are studying at Universitas Widyatama, and conversely, 9 final year students from the Information Technology S1 Study Program at Widyatama University are studying at NPIC. The visit also aimed to discuss the continuation of the collaboration and to check on the condition of the students studying at NPIC who will return to Indonesia in October 2017.
