Competitive Advantage and the Existence of the Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University

The first female professor in the field of accounting, Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoel Kadir, M.S., (source: http://www.iaiglobal.or.id/v03/berita-kegiatan/detailarsip-518) was the founder of the Bandung Accounting Education and Teaching Foundation. On January 3, 1973, a college specializing in accounting was established in the city of Bandung. As economic needs continued to increase, YPPAB continued to improve quality and make updates in line with market needs. YPPAB increased the level of education and changed its name to the Bandung College of Economics (STIEB), which was the origin of the Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University.

With more than 44 years of experience in providing competency-based accounting education to produce professional accountants, the faculty aims to meet the need for accounting professionals in various business sectors and government institutions. By implementing an interactive learning model and soft skill development, the Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University is able to respond to dynamic global challenges through continuous improvement. The Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University currently offers the Accounting S1 and Accounting D3 study programs.

The Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University is currently supported by professional educational staff. The majority of them have a master’s degree and are state-registered accountants, with 7 (seven) professors and 20 (twenty) doctors, 15 (fifteen) of whom are doctors in the field of accounting.

The competency-based curriculum is supported by computerized accounting laboratories certified with Microsoft SAP Fundamental and SAP Controlling licenses, equipping Accounting D3 and Accounting S1 graduates with a unique selling point to become professional accountants, public accounting entrepreneurs, or financial consultants.
