
Lecturers from the Library and Information Science study program, Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University (UTama) conducted a Community Service (PkM) activity at SMKN Harapan 2 Rancaekek, Bandung Regency.
Aminudin ST., M.Kom., a lecturer and Head of the PkM Cluster, said that the activity was held some time ago, specifically on Thursday (February 18, 2021). It consisted of a workshop on developing school library collections, with the theme “Revitalizing School Libraries for Effective Learning.”

SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek itself is located on Jalan Desa Nanjung Mekar Rancaekek Rt 03 Rw 02, Nanjung Mekar Village, Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency.
The activity was conducted online using the Zoom application.
“The participants consisted of the head of the library, the head of the curriculum program, and subject teachers at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek. This included students from the Library and Information Science Study Program, UTama,” said Aminudin, Tuesday (30/3/2021).
The material was presented by Haria Saputry Wahyuni, S.I.Pus., M.I.Kom., and moderated by Diah Sri Rejeki, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., Head of the Library and Information Science Study Program, UTama.
Aminudin further explained that the purpose of the event was to provide insight, especially to the Head of the Library and subject teachers at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek.

“So that they know how to develop the library collection at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek in accordance with the provisions of the Head of PERPUSNAS (National Library) of the Republic of Indonesia number 12 of 2017 concerning high school/vocational school library standards,” said Aminudin.
After participating in the activity, it is hoped that the Head of the Library and teachers at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek will understand how to increase the library collection. Not only textbooks, but also periodicals (magazines, newspapers) and other printed works.
On a different occasion, Linda, Head of the Library at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek, hoped that this PkM activity could continue for the next workshop material.
“My hope is that the library managed at our school can be even more advanced. It could even go digital so that it can be accessed by students in their own homes,” said Linda.

This was echoed by the Principal of SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek, Drs. H. Aep Saepudin. He also expressed his appreciation for the PkM Library and Information Science Study Program of the Widyatama Faculty of Engineering at the school he leads.
“I welcome this activity, because it is very helpful in improving the library at SMK Harapan 2 Rancaekek. To all members of Widyatama University, especially the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, I express my gratitude,” said Aep.
