Widyatama University Integrative Community Service Program in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and the West Java Provincial Handicraft Council

SABAKOTA.ID — The Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture’s program on Mental Revolution through the Planting of 10 Million Trees in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia is being implemented in an integrated manner in collaboration with various public and private universities.

In West Java, the program will be carried out in collaboration with Widyatama University in Bandung, involving the planting of hundreds of thousands of tree seeds of various species in Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency (KBB) on Thursday (September 15).

For Widyatama University, this activity is also implemented as part of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi program in the form of Integrated Community Service (PkM), which also collaborates with the West Java Provincial Dekranasda.

The Integrated PkM program in Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency (KBB), which will be attended by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhajir Effendi, Chair of Dekranasda West Java Atalia Praratya, and Widyatama University Rector Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, will feature tree planting activities and a festival showcasing products from a number of MSME entrepreneurs mentored by Widyatama University.

According to the chair of the Widyatama University Integrated Community Service activity committee, Deden Maulana M.Ds, the collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture is related to the government’s program of planting 10 million trees in various provinces throughout Indonesia, as well as the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with Dekranasda Jabar aims to increase production and motivation among MSME entrepreneurs, especially those who have been under the guidance of Widyatama University.

According to the Head of the Widyatama University Integrative PkM Committee, Deden Maulana M.Ds, the collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture is related to the government’s program of planting 10 million trees in various provinces throughout Indonesia, as well as the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with Dekranasda Jabar aims to increase production and motivation among MSME entrepreneurs, especially those who have been under the guidance of Widyatama University.

For the Widyatama University community, this collaboration program is also implemented based on the awareness that current global climate change has greatly affected the sustainability of human life on earth. “The extreme increase in global temperatures is partly caused by human activities that exploit forests excessively.”

Widyatama University, as a private university with an “Excellent” accreditation rating, has 47 research and community service clusters from 22 existing study programs. It is implementing this collaboration with the hope of creating an environmental balance that is beneficial to the community.

One of the Kemenko PMK programs in collaboration with Widyatama University is reforestation by planting trees in arid areas, river basins, highlands, lowlands, and coastal areas with plant species adapted to the conditions of the area.

Simultaneously with the planting of hundreds of thousands of trees, there will also be a festival of various MSME products developed by Widyata University in collaboration with the West Java Provincial Dekranasda.

The Integrity Community Service Program, which involves many parties, also aims to foster awareness among all parties in preserving the environment and empowering the communities around the planting locations so that through environmental preservation, their welfare can be improved.
