Widyatama University and University College of Technology Serawak Establish Green-Smart Building Cooperation for Lectures

Inter-university cooperation is an effort to collaborate and improve the quality of Widyatama University, which is always looking for partners who can encourage development in various aspects. One of the recent international collaborations is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the University College of Technology Serawak – Malaysia (UCTS).

The event was held on Tuesday, October 12, 2018. The Rector of Widyatama University, Dr. H. Islahuzzaman, S.E., MSi, Ak. signed the MoU with Mr. Djoko S. Roespinoedji, S.E., Pg. Dip. as witness. From UCTS, the event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramli Rashidi – Director of the Center of Education and Professional Development; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azlan Ali – Head of the Accounting Program, School of Business Management; and Mr. Fathan Soetrisno – Deputy Director, Center of Education and Professional Development.

UCTS is a Malaysian government university located in Sibu, a city in Serawak on the island of Borneo. UCTS has a building designed as a smart building that is also eco-friendly. Rainwater is collected and used as a source of clean water. Solar energy is used as a source of electricity. As a smart building, if a room is not in use, all electrical equipment will automatically turn off. With its vast land area, UCTS offers a learning environment close to nature.

The MoU opens up opportunities for Widyatama students to participate in exchange programs and study at UCTS, and vice versa. Other collaborations expected to be implemented include joint research and seminars between Widyatama and UCTS. (Raffaida)
