The Japanese Study Program at Universitas Widyatama has once again been selected to receive educational assistance from The Japan Foundation, Japan for the 2009/2010 period. The assistance provided this time is in the form of education kits for the Bunkasai or Japanese Cultural Festival, specifically for the speech contest to be held this coming December, said Uning Kuraesin, Head of the Japanese Study Program. This makes Widyatama University a member of The JF Nihongo network, better known as the “Sakura Network,” a Japanese educational institution under The Japan Foundation that is engaged in the international development of the Japanese Widyatama University is one of several educational institutions selected to become members of the Sakura Network. Uning added that the study program has collaborated with The Japan Foundation in providing teaching materials, native speakers or guest lecturers, textbooks, and sending lecturers and teachers to Japan to improve their teaching skills. This will help improve the quality of Japanese teaching for students, said Uning.
