Entering the online lecture period for the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, the Diploma 4 (Applied Bachelor’s Degree) Film and Television Study Program at the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, Universitas Widyatama, has prepared a “Blended Learning” system, in which students will be given the opportunity to learn more independently and directly engage with the community while still using and implementing COVID-19 protocols.
This was stated by the Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, Deden Maulana, Drs, M.Ds, recently in Bandung. According to him, students will implement the independent campus policy while still receiving guidance and direction in accordance with academic guidelines, without losing the quality and creativity in developing their knowledge and expertise in the community.
“During this period, students will learn to adapt to a new environment and have the opportunity to gain more real-world experience, without losing the quality and creativity in developing their knowledge and expertise in the community,” he told kabarpublik.id on Thursday (11/2/21).
In addition, the Head of the FTV Program at the Faculty of DKV, Universitas Widyatama, Budiman Drs, M.MPd, supported by lecturers and practitioners, added that the program offers a breakthrough program entitled “kampung sinetron” (soap opera village) in several areas in West Java.
“Kampung Sinetron is basically a community service program carried out by FTV program lecturers, who have professional backgrounds in TV and film. The program will hold a series of regular activities in the form of workshops on making short films for selected young people in the village for a week,” said Budiman on Thursday (11/2/21).

Furthermore, according to Budiman, participants are encouraged to create content in the form of short films or web series with the theme of local wisdom. The Kampung Sinetron program aims to develop partnerships with communities in various regions with the aim of recording everyday phenomena as local cultural values that can be transformed into messages for the present day.
Budiman added that through their involvement in the program, students can learn directly from the community to develop their ideas and find solutions from their own perspectives.
Deden Maulana explained that the Film and Television Study Program (D4) at Universitas Widyatama will focus more on producing graduates who are ready to work and also ready to become entrepreneurs in real life, equipped with the DJITU attitude (Disciplined, Honest, Innovative, Diligent, and Persistent) as the UTAMA slogan, which is to build the character of students now and in the future.
