Kicking off the 2020/2021 Academic Year, the Widyatama University Bandung Research and Community Service Center conducted a Village Development program in the Parongpong District of West Bandung Regency.
There are 7 villages that will be the focus of the program, which emphasizes community independence in economic, social, and cultural aspects in accordance with Village Law No. 16 of 2014.
This program is an implementation of Widyatama University’s research and community service roadmap and a manifestation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program that has been promoted by the Ministry of Education and Culture recently.
The villages are Karyawangi Village, Cihanjuang Village, Cihanjuang Rahayu Village, Cihideung Village, Ciwaruga Village, Cigugur Girang Village, and Sariwangi Village.
Observations have been conducted in 3 villages, with the other villages to follow in the near future.
Among the objectives of the program related to improving the community’s economy is to develop an integrated information system service based on DESA DIGITAL, which will be led by the Faculty of Engineering (FT).
In the economic field, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is developing structured and organized village-owned enterprises (Bumdes) by training skilled and professional human resources. The BUSINESS INCUBATOR program implements 10 business pillars to produce new profitable entrepreneurs.
The Faculty of Languages (FB) will launch the LITERACY AND TOURISM VILLAGE program by providing empowerment, counseling, and training, especially to youth organizations, so that they realize that their natural, artistic, and cultural potential, as well as their human resources, can have economic value.
Meanwhile, to increase creativity and productivity, the Faculty of Visual Communication Design (FDKV) will spearhead efforts to promote goods and services to increase their selling value. The program opens a DESIGN CLINIC, where the community can consult and apply their knowledge, such as designing packaging for MSMEs that is good and targeted at consumers.
The meeting held in the Ciwaruga Village Hall a few days ago has become a milestone for the progress of Parongpong District.
Witnessed directly by the Head of Parongpong District, Mr. Drs. Iwan Mustawan Azis, M.Si, along with village officials representing the ongoing meeting, it has brought a new atmosphere of competitive rivalry among business and service players in the district.
