On Wednesday (2/12), Universitas Widyatama (UTama) welcomed a visit from UPI Bandung Laboratory High School. The group arrived at around 7:30 a.m. at the Widyatama parking lot. The arrival of UPI Laboratory High School (http://goo.gl/cItVW) was greeted with great respect by the Marketing Bureau Staff and Marketing Crew on duty. The students were immediately directed to the Multipurpose Building, while the teachers were directed to the second floor of the GSG building to receive briefings from the organizing committee regarding the implementation of the Tryout. The group leader, Mrs. Lala, as the Deputy Principal for Curriculum of the well-known “Labschool” high school, brought around 230 students consisting of MIA and IIS majors. Class teachers and guidance counselors were also present during the tryout ahead of the National Examination.
The event began with a speech from the Head of the Marketing Bureau, represented by the Head of the Promotion Subdivision, Mr. Eddy Witono, A.Md, followed by a speech from a representative of Labschool UPI Bandung High School. This was part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, as well as a form of achievement for the marketing bureau’s work program. The maturity of the Visit and Tryout event itself became a breakthrough for the success of the event’s innovation. The presence of Mr. Pipin Sukandi, S.E., M.M. (@pipinsukandi) as a motivator was well-received by the students who will be taking the National Exam. They were given “advice” wrapped in an entertaining style by a motivational speaker who is also a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Management..
The purpose of the group’s visit to UTama was to provide high school graduates and their equivalents with an understanding of higher education. This is because high school graduates do not yet know which university they will attend after graduating from high school or what major they will choose when they go to college. In addition to providing this understanding, the visit was also used as a means to provide more detailed information about Universitas Widyatama. At the end of the event, the group and the visitation committee held a group photo session to strengthen the friendship and good relations between the two institutions.
