BANDUNG – An atmosphere full of enthusiasm and competition euphoria enveloped the Universitas Widyatama’s Student Activity Center (PKM) in early February this year. As one of the educational institutions that consistently maintains its reputation as a quality private university (PTS) in West Java, Universitas Widyatama (UTama) once again held its prestigious annual sporting event, the UTama Sport Competition (UPTION) 2026. This grand competition served as a strategic moment to strengthen solidarity and sportsmanship among students across faculties and universities.
The university-level sports tournament felt particularly special as it marked the seventh successful competition since it was first initiated with external partners in 2014. The series of matches, which took place from February 2nd to 14th, 2026, was participated in by many strong teams. All student delegations are ready to compete in futsal, basketball, and badminton with high fighting spirit.
The Chief Executive of the 2026 UTama Sport Competition, Syabani Rizki, could not hide his enthusiasm for the smooth running of this year’s event. According to him, this year’s event feels much more grand because it carries a completely new concept and theme to generate positive energy among the participants.
“Compared to the last year’s event, this event felt smoother and more luxurious because we brought a very different theme. The enthusiasm of the participants was also extraordinary, with a total of 5 futsal teams, 15 basketball teams, and 20 badminton participants,” said Syabani while monitoring the matches.
Furthermore, Syabani hopes that the committee system, which is now directly under the auspices of the Student Affairs Bureau, can open up broader participation opportunities for all students without exception.

In line with the organizing committee, the Head of the Student Affairs and Alumni Bureau of Universitas Widyatama, I Gede Nyoman Wisnu Satyadharma, S.T., M.Sn, emphasized that the student sports event was not designed simply to showcase physical strength. He highlighted the great potential of these student activities as a forum for the continuous development of non-academic achievements.
“Our hope for this year’s event is that everything will run smoothly and that all participants and supporters will maintain discipline. The participants are certainly expected to perform at their best, and in the future, this activity can consistently produce champions in intercollegiate sports,” said Wisnu when he officially opened the competition series.
The presence of proper sports facilities on campus is also clear evidence of Universitas Widyatama’s commitment to facilitating the interests and talents of its students. This is very much in line with the vision of comprehensive character development that is consistently applied on campus, where a balance between academic intelligence and teamwork skills is a key competency instilled in all students.
Through the 2026 UTama Sport Competition (UPTION), the institution hopes to continue providing a space for positive expression and expanding the horizons of friendship among young people. Strong synergy between the student affairs bureau and student organizations is expected to become a model of strategic collaboration that can produce resilient, athletic graduates who are ready to compete at the national level.
