The Japanese Study Program at Universitas Widyatama (UTama) once again held a Community Service (PkM) activity by organizing Japanese language training for nursing staff (Kaigo) at STIKES Dharma Husada, Bandung City.
It was held online, through a Web Seminar (Webinar), for 180 minutes, on Tuesday, (23/2/2021).
The aim was to provide knowledge about nursing terms in Japanese to students of the Nursing Science Study Program at STIKES Dharma Husada.
It should be noted that currently, the demand for nurses in Japan, the “Land of Sakura,” has not decreased. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing almost everywhere in the world. On the contrary, the demand is increasing.
However, one of the absolute requirements for providing the needed nursing personnel is proficiency in Japanese. Therefore, this knowledge is very important for nursing personnel from Indonesia.
At least five lecturers from the UTama Japanese Study Program served as resource persons, namely Uning Kuraesin, Dra., M.Pd., Hardianto Rahardjo, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ningrum Tresnasari, S.S., M.A., Nurza Ariestafuri, S.S., M.Pd., and Raden Novitasari, S.S, M.Hum.
In addition, there were three students who assisted them, representing the D3 and S1 Japanese Language Study Programs, namely Amira Wifaq Tsuraya, Lionnanda Dhedi Wiranto, and Almira Kartasentana.
The participants were very enthusiastic about the activity because nursing terms in Japanese are very much needed by them. Moreover, this will be the basis for communication when they are accepted to work as nurses in Japan later.
Most of the participants also stated that the topics they received were in line with their expectations. Their knowledge of Japanese has improved significantly.
