Universitas Widyatama Holds Socialization on Cultural Revitalization and Tourism Villages

Bandung, January 20, 2025 – Universitas Widyatama, led by its Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Suganda, M.Hum., organized a socialization event on cultural revitalization and the development of tourism villages for faculty members across disciplines. The event was held in the Seminar Room on the 6th Floor of Building B at Universitas Widyatama on Monday (01/20).

The event was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Cultural Studies, the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. In his presentation, Prof. Dadang elaborated on various important aspects of cultural revitalization, covering the basic concepts of revitalization, the current state of culture, and the structural framework supporting cultural development and tourism villages.

“Cultural revitalization is a crucial effort to preserve local values that are increasingly eroded by modernization. This aligns with Law No. 5 of 2017 on the Advancement of Culture, which provides a legal basis for preserving and developing culture as a national asset,” stated Prof. Dadang during his opening remarks.

He also highlighted the potential of tourism villages as a means of cultural preservation and community empowerment. “The development of tourism villages not only boosts the local economy but also serves as a medium for cultural preservation. This is one of the strategic steps toward achieving the Cultural Award as a form of recognition for efforts in cultural preservation,” he added.

This socialization event is expected to motivate lecturers to actively support programs on cultural revitalization and tourism villages. With interdisciplinary collaboration, Universitas Widyatama is optimistic about making tangible contributions to cultural advancement at both local and national levels.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion session, where faculty members engaged directly with the Rector to delve deeper into strategies for implementing cultural revitalization programs within the campus and the surrounding community.
