The Bandung City Government and Widyatama University commemorated Earth Day by cleaning up the Cidurian River.
The city of Bandung has 46 rivers and tributaries, with 16 priority rivers in the Citarum sub-watershed. Six of these Citarum sub-watersheds are ADIPURA monitoring points, consisting of the Cikapundung River, Cikapundung Kolot River, Cidurian River, Cibeureum River, Citepus River, and Cicadas River. The water quality status of the rivers is generally classified as Class IV, indicating severe pollution;
The Clean River Movement is one of the preventive efforts to improve river water quality and the quality of the environment around the river. The location of the Clean River Movement is on the Cidurian River, 500 meters upstream and 500 meters downstream from the location at Widyatama University, Cibeunying Kidul District, Sukapada Village.
The objectives of the Clean River Movement are: 1. To synergize and strengthen integrated programs and activities in river management; 2. To serve as a forum for guidance and information for all environmental activists in terms of environmental conservation; 3. To convey a moral message to all environmental activists about the importance of the function of rivers; 4. To establish river guards along the river to oversee integrated river management; The Clean River Movement can continue so that good and sustainable river environmental conditions are created;
The Clean River Movement is carried out simultaneously and coordinated by the Bandung City BPLH and supported by related agencies consisting of Widyatama University, the Agriculture and Food Security Agency, the Cemetery and Parks Agency, the Public Works and Water Management Agency, the Health Agency, the Sanitation Company, the Water Company, community members, the Indonesian National Armed Forces/Indonesian National Police, high school students in Bandung City, and international students consisting of the AIESEC Community, the River Community, and community leaders in Bandung City.
