SABACIREBON – Bandung, which this year marks its 21st anniversary as a private university with an “Excellent” rating, has rotated, inaugurated, and sworn in 14 key university officials in Bandung on Thursday (11/08).
The swearing-in ceremony for the new officials was led by the Rector of Widyatama University (UTama), Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, and attended by all members of the Widyatama Education Foundation leadership, as well as the rectorate and units operating under the Widyatama Foundation.
In his speech at the inauguration of the 14 new UTama officials, Rector Dadang Suganda invited all leaders within his organization to carry out their duties in accordance with the vision and mission set forth through a spirit of togetherness.
The rector believes that success can be achieved if all parties understand how important Widyatama is to many people. “It is very important to promote the existence of Widyatama, because it concerns the interests of many people. Widyatama is the livelihood of many people,” said the rector.
At the beginning of his inauguration speech, the UTama Rector also reminded the audience of the importance of responding to various government programs related to higher education activities, including the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.
According to the Rector, the government is currently actively rolling out various programs as part of a massive transformation of higher education. In terms of the Tri Dharma of higher education, for example, the government has launched the MBKM program, the implementation of which will greatly depend on the response of study programs, lecturers, and students.
“The Rectorate and Foundation play a role in overseeing, backing up, and supporting through policies. But the spearhead of implementation and realization lies with the Study Program, Students, and lecturers,” said Prof. Dadang, adding: “Therefore, the faculty as a scientific group must really design what needs to be done in accordance with the planned targets.”
Regarding the student body as mentioned in the remarks by the chairman of the Widyatama Foundation, Roeshartono, the Rector strongly agreed and understood. “We at the rectorate have created a road map of policies that may accommodate the targets as stated by the chairman of the Widyatama Foundation,” he added.
The Rector reminded that the government’s orientation in terms of educational transformation is towards MBKM and cannot avoid it because the performance of all universities, both public and private, is measured by the success of the MBKM program implementation.
Regarding the Foundation Chair’s remarks about the student body, the Rector suggested that traditional marketing systems or methods may need to migrate to modern marketing patterns. “Modern marketing is not only about digitalization, but also about content,” said the Rector of UTama.
