SABACIREBON – Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, M.Hum., Chair of the Academic Senate of Widyatama University, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, inaugurated and appointed Prof. Dr. Zulganef, Drs., MM and Prof. Dr. Maman Suratman, Drs., MSi as Professors at Widyatama University. The two full professors who were inaugurated and appointed in an open session of the Widyatama University Senate are permanent lecturers at the Widyatama Foundation who teach daily at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) in both the S-1 Management program and the Postgraduate program at Widyatama University in Bandung. Prof. Zulganef and Prof. Maman are the first permanent lecturers at Widyatama University to obtain the highest functional position for lecturers who are still actively teaching in higher education institutions. Widyatama University was established on August 2, 2001, and is a merger of the Bandung School of Economics (STIEB), the Bandung School of Languages (STIBB), the Bandung Widyatama School of Technology (STTW), and the School of Visual Communication Design (STDKV).
The merger was intended to produce graduates who are truly competitive. The next step taken by Widyatama University was a serious and consistent effort to implement an education service system with the ISO-9001: 2000 standard. During his inauguration as the first professor at Widyatama University, which now holds an Excellent accreditation status, Prof. Zulganef delivered a scientific speech on management science in theory and its implementation in various business organizations. Meanwhile, Prof. Maman Suratman delivered a scientific speech entitled “Initiating the Development of Human Resources for Cooperatives and Micro and Small Businesses.”

For Widyatanma University, the inauguration of these two professors is a milestone because the private university, which was conceived and founded by Prof. Dr. Koesbandiah Abdoelkadir (deceased), now has its own professors, which is proof of the success of the Widyatama Foundation as the governing body of Widyatama University. In this era of fierce competition among higher education institutions in Indonesia, only those institutions that are able to develop and maintain their quality will be sought after by prospective students. Widyatama University currently holds the status of an “Excellent” university, the highest rating based on the accreditation results of the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT), as it is considered to have met the requirements as a high-quality or high-caliber university.
The objectives and benefits of accreditation for higher education institutions are: To provide assurance that accredited higher education institutions have met the quality criteria set by BAN-PT, thereby protecting the public from higher education institutions that do not meet the criteria. To encourage higher education institutions to continuously improve and maintain high quality. The accreditation results can be used as consideration in credit transfers, assistance proposals and fund allocations, as well as to obtain recognition from relevant agencies or institutions. The inauguration of Prof. Zulganef and Prof. Maman Suratman was attended by a number of guests from various circles, particularly academics from a number of higher education institutions, including 8 rectors from Widyatama-affiliated universities. Also present were the Chairman of the Widyatama Foundation Roeshartono and the Widyatama University Rectorate, Widyatama Deans and Lecturers, as well as the families and relatives of the two Professors.
