Bandung, June 11th, 2024 – The Widyatama University Investment Gallery, in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), held an event titled “Let’s Talk Smart About Finance! (Ngopi Kuy)” with the theme “Smart Students? Must Understand Digital Finance”. The event took place in the Seminar Room of Building A, 4th Floor, Widyatama University (UTama) and was attended by hundreds of students from various faculties who were enthusiastic about deepening their knowledge of digital finance. The event was hosted by Reva Yuliani, S.E., M.M., Head of the UTama Investment Gallery, and supported by the Innovation & Academic Cooperation Bureau led by Dr. Keni Kaniawati, S.E., M.Si.
Also in attendance were the leadership of the Widyatama University Foundation and University, senior officials from the West Java OJK represented by Aulia Fadly as Director of PJUK Behavior Supervision, Education, Consumer Protection and LMS OJK, Achmad Dirgantara as Head of the West Java Representative Office of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and Bambang S Antariksawan as Senior Analyst for Planning, Development, Evaluation of Financial Literacy and Education at OJK, who also served as a resource person for this event together with Siti Komariah, S.E., M.M., a lecturer at Widyatama University.
The Importance of Literacy in Capital Markets and Investment
In an increasingly advanced digital era, digital financial literacy has become a very important skill for students. Digital finance not only covers the use of technology for transactions, but also an understanding of investment, financial planning, and personal data security. Good financial literacy enables students to manage their finances more wisely and take advantage of the opportunities offered by developments in financial technology.
Speakers and Discussion Sessions
This event featured several leading speakers in the field of finance and technology invited by the OJK. One of them was Achmad Dirgantara, a digital economist, who discussed the development of the capital market and its types.
In addition, there was also Siti Komariah, S.E., M.M., who is a lecturer at Widyatama University. Siti shared her practical experience on how to start investing in digital platforms on the Sharia Capital Market. She explained what is prohibited in investments for Muslims, investment products on the Sharia Capital Market, and the mechanism of investing in the Sharia Capital Market.
“The Sharia Capital Market is a capital market whose activities do not conflict with sharia principles in the capital market,” said Siti.
Student Participation
The interactive question and answer session showed the students’ enthusiasm for this topic. Many of them asked questions about how to choose a safe investment platform, tips for managing personal finances, and how to use technology to improve their financial literacy.
Continuing Education
OJK and Widyatama University are committed to continuing to provide education on digital financial literacy to their students. The Rector of Widyatama University, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Suganda, M.Hum., said in his speech that events like this will be held regularly to ensure that students are not only academically smart, but also smart in managing their finances. “We want our students to be ready to face the challenges of the digital world, including in terms of finance. Digital financial literacy is the key to a brighter future,” said Prof. Dadang.

The “Smart Talk About Finance” event is a concrete step taken by Widyatama University and OJK to improve digital financial literacy among its students. With a good understanding of digital finance, it is hoped that Widyatama University students will be able to manage their finances better and more wisely, and be ready to face economic challenges in this digital era.
