Japanese culture remains a favorite among the nation’s youth.

Bandung (February 28, 2015), The Japanese Community held a sashimi event called “Seisun.” This annual event featured a series of interesting activities, including a Japanese band audition, Japanese cosplay, a Japanese food festival, and an exhibition by the manga automotive community.

Not only university students, but also many high school and vocational school students attended the Sashimi event. This indicates that Japanese culture is still an idol in the eyes of Indonesian youth. The uniqueness of the “sushi” culture is very appealing to young people, not only in terms of culture, but also cartoon characters and other creative elements blended with national culture were also featured at the Sashimi event.

“Seisun means ‘young people’ in Japanese. Because we created the Sashimi event from young people, for young people too. In addition, we also packaged something new from sashimi so that it became a youthful concept,” said Zaini, the Executive Chair of Sashimi.

In collaboration with the Bandung City Education Office, the Marketing Bureau of Widyatama University invited public and private schools to attend the Sashimi event, especially schools that have language departments, language vocational programs, and Japanese language or literature courses. This is one way for Widyatama University to introduce itself to schools that are not yet familiar with its profile, and schools can recommend their students to study at Widyatama University, especially those interested in enrolling in the Faculty of Languages.
