On Saturday (March 27th), the Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI), in collaboration with Bank BJB, held a grand event, namely a Fun Walk entitled “GO MEA Siapa Takut?” (GO MEA Who’s Afraid?). Full support came from the West Java Provincial Government, as seen from the enthusiasm of Governor Ahmad Heryawan and his wife, who opened the Fun Walk event at the Diponegoro Street Monument in Bandung.
ISEI, as the event organizer, aimed to campaign to the public that we should not “get too comfortable” with rapid changes (revolution) in all fields. Specifically for countries in the Asian peninsula, including Indonesia, they have now entered a period of liberalization of all trade sectors and other sectors in terms of clothing, food, and housing regulations.
The Asean Economic Community (AEC) or MEA is a frightening specter for those who have not kept up with the many changes in the world. Not only the economic sector is the main issue, but several sectors are being prepared by countries facing the ASEAN Economic Community. According to the daily newspaper Pikiran Rakyat, Thailand is preparing its human resources to learn Indonesian, Malaysia is preparing the best teachers and lecturers in the education sector, China, which is in fact the best in electronics, is preparing its tools, and Singapore is preparing in the health sector. Meanwhile, what is Indonesia preparing?
Indonesia, a country rich in natural resources, has creative people. We must maintain our entrepreneurial talent, especially by spreading the spirit of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), which are always full of innovation. Several universities, including Widyatama University, participated in the booths provided by the committee, which were filled with MSME products made by students. Each university sent creative products made by students who conducted direct selling on the spot
