Income Tax Law Ready to Take Effect on January 1, 2009

The Income Tax Bill (RUU PPh) has been officially passed into law. Thus, income tax calculations for both corporate and individual taxpayers will refer to this law, which will take effect on January 1, 2009. The changes in this law are necessary to create a better economic environment. Taxpayers who do not have an NPWP (tax identification number) will be subject to higher taxes.

This was summarized in the socialization and workshop on Amendments to Law No. 36/2008 on Income Tax, which was held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in the Seminar Room on the 6th floor of Graha Widyatama, Widyatama University. Featuring Prianto Budi Saptono, President of Pratama Consulting, this workshop was organized by the Communication and Consultation Forum (FKK) of Widyatama University in collaboration with the Indonesian Accounting Association (IAI) of West Java and the Widyatama Knowledge Development & Application Institute (LPAP). Aimed at providing insights to participants, the workshop also offered an understanding of the procedures for calculating and filing income tax in accordance with the Income Tax Law that will take effect at the beginning of 2009.

This socialization event will thoroughly discuss the main points of the changes in the Income Tax Law and explain how to anticipate these changes, as well as provide a comprehensive understanding of the main points of the latest amendments to the Income Tax regulations.

The workshop, which will be attended by human resources professionals, accounting practitioners, finance, legal and tax staff, academics, entrepreneurs, investors and members of the public who want to understand and learn about developments in the 2008 Income Tax Law, will feature case studies and interactive consultations.
