History of Widyatama

The Widyatama Foundation was originally named the Bandung Accounting Education and Teaching Foundation (YPPAB), which was established in Bandung on January 3, 1973, on the initiative of Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah AbdoelKadir, MS, Ak (deceased). This foundation manages the Bandung Accounting Institute (IAB) with a Bachelor’s Degree (S1) program in Accounting. In 1979, the name of the foundation was changed to the Bandung College of Economics Foundation (YASTIEB) and managed the Bandung College of Economics (STIEB) with an S1 program in Accounting and an S1 program in Management, which in 1995 was supplemented with a D3 program in Accounting and a D3 program in Management.

Following the development of needs and the foundation itself, based on the notarial deed of Lien Tanudirdja, SH dated January 3, 1993, the name of the foundation was changed to the Widyatama Foundation. This foundation manages the fields of economics (Bandung College of Economics-STIEB), engineering (Bandung College of Technology-Widyatama), languages (Bandung College of Languages-Widyatama), visual communication design (College of Visual Communication Design-Widyatama) and the Widyatama MM Program, as well as the Accounting Professional Program (PPA). On August 1, 2001, the four colleges and the MM Program merged to form Widyatama University, located at Jl Cikutra No. 204 A Bandung, with a campus area of approximately 50,000 m2.

The establishment of Widyatama University is in line with the Foundation’s mission to assist the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in educating the nation by organizing educational institutions that develop various disciplines. The educational activities organized by the above educational institutions aim to equip students with knowledge and skills that are relevant to the needs of society (competency-based), able to adapt to their future work environment, and able to keep up with developments in a global atmosphere.

Currently, the Widyatama Foundation is chaired by Mrs. Sri Lestari A. Roespinoedji, S.H. In addition to organizing the university, it also has educational units, namely LPAP and LPK Art Therapy Center (ATC) Widyatama.
The Institute for the Development and Application of Science (LPAP) is an educational unit that provides services to students and other parties who need to develop science and apply it in the community. Meanwhile, LPK Art Therapy Center (ATC) Widyatama is an arts and design-based educational unit that will facilitate training for students with special needs.
