The campus orientation program, better known as ospek in higher education, is usually perceived as exhausting, and this type of activity is often used as an opportunity for senior students to bully junior students. However, this is not the case with the Widyatama University Orientation Program (PPU). The Widyatama PPU took place from August 28th to September 8, 2018th, and was held at the Widyatama Auditorium Building (GSG).
The first day was enlivened by a performance from the Japan Community Widyatama, which showcased a student cosplay community featuring various characters, followed by a lion dance performance from the Bandung Santo Club (BSTC) student activity unit, which had achieved success at the international “Legend of Shaolin Memorial Cup” event in Hong Kong in 2016.
Carrying the message of the DJITU values that have been compiled by the Widyatama Foundation since 1973, the Student Art Group presented a cabaret full of DJITU’s own meaning, namely that as educators, all students at Universitas Widyatama will be educated to have the noble attitudes of Discipline, Honesty, Innovation, Perseverance, and Tenacity.
The PPU opening ceremony was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Widyatama, Dr. H. Islahuzzaman, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, along with the Vice Rector for Academic, Development and Cooperation, as well as the Vice Rector for Operations, Human Resources and Finance. The opening was also attended by the leadership of the Foundation and the Widyatama Rectorate.
The Head of the Analysis Division of the West Java Regional Police Intelligence and Security Directorate, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dr. I Ketut Adi Purnama, S.H., M.H., took the opportunity to give a presentation on national defense and national awareness. According to him, national awareness and national defense are important, especially in response to the current phenomenon of declining national awareness and national defense.
The first day of PPU ended with an evacuation to classrooms in Buildings B, C, and K for a presentation on Student Institutions and Student Organizations at Universitas Widyatama. (Ed)
