Bandung, 29 September 2023, Widyatama University’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UTama) collaborated with the Community Learning Center (Community Learning Center) of the Indonesian Student Association (PKBM PPI) Taiwan, carrying out Community Service (PkM) intended for PKBM PPI Taiwan managers and students who are Indonesian Migrant Workers. This activity is a follow-up to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding which was carried out on Saturday, July 29 2023. This PkM activity is an Empowerment Class with the theme “Entrepreneurship and Household Financial Literacy” which will be held on September 8, 15 and 23, 20.00 – 22.00 Taiwan time.

The first session of the PkM activity was conducted by a cluster led by Dr. Rima Rahmayanti, S.E., M.M., with Dr. Meriza Hendri, S.IP., M.M. as the main speaker and Dr. Kharisya Ayu Effendi, S.E., M.S.M. as the moderator, on September 8, 2023. Dr. Meriza provided an overview of the concept of corporate entrepreneurship for PKBM PPI Taiwan managers. He conveyed that this concept is very important for a non-profit organization in order to make learning activities at PKBM PPI Taiwan run smoothly and sustainably.
Ir. Ananda Insan Firdausy, ST., MT., M.Sc said that PKBM PPI Taiwan is a form of responsibility of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Taiwan to help provide educational programs for Indonesian citizens in Taiwan by organizing Equivalency Education Programs (Packages A, B, and C).
Managers must have an entrepreneurial mindset and see various opportunities with the support of creative thinking and innovation. This activity is also the first activity carried out by PKBM PPI Taiwan with other institutions after the replacement of the Principal from Muhamad Aditya Rohadi, Ph.D to Ir. Ananda Insan Firdausy, ST., MT., M.Sc.

Next, the second session of the Community Service Program (PkM) with the theme “Developing the Entrepreneurial Mindset of PKBM PPI Taiwan Students” addressed issues often faced by Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) after they stop working abroad. This session was held on September 15, 2023.
Dr. Meriza encouraged participants to understand that every step is a choice with consequences, so that this understanding can provide a clearer direction in achieving goals. The participants were very enthusiastic about this activity, showing a strong determination to improve the welfare of their lives and families in their homeland.

The final session of the PkM activity held on September 23, 2023, raised the topic of financial management for PKBM PPI Taiwan students. One of the participants said that the temptation to be consumptive, lifestyle, and family demands often resulted in the funds they had collected being depleted, forcing them to look for work abroad again.
The third session featured speakers Ignatius Oki Dewa Brata, S.E., M.Si., Ak., C.A., Erly Sherelita, S.E., M. Si., Ak., C. A., Bunga Indah Bayunitri, S.E., M.M., Ak., C.A., Eriana Kartadjumena, Ph.D., S.E., M.M., Ak., CSRS., C.A., and H. R. Roosaleh Laksono T. Y, S.T., S.SI., M.E., who took turns presenting various practical insights that could be applied by the students.

All PKM activities were accompanied by PKBM PPI Taiwan administrators and attended by the Structural Program Study at FEB UTama. At the end of the event, the Dean of FEB UTama, Dr. Nuryaman, S.E., M.Si., CA., expressed his gratitude to PKBM PPI Taiwan.
“Terimakasih kepada PKBM PPI Taiwan yang telah memberikan ruang bagi para dosen FEB UTama untuk berbagi pengetahuan kepada Masyarakat Indonesia yang berada di luar negeri”.
He hopes that this activity can be sustained as a form of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. In addition, he expressed his high appreciation to the participants for their enthusiasm to improve their welfare and future when they return to Indonesia.
This activity is clear evidence of FEB UTama’s commitment to expanding cross-border educational cooperation and encouraging individuals to be empowered in an increasingly dynamic environment. Sharing knowledge will be an important step in promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and financial literacy among participants. With a growing spirit of collaboration, FEB UTama is committed to continuing to advance education for all and helping individuals reach their potential.
Finally, Anggraeni Kumala Dewi, head of the academic division of PPI Taiwan, expressed her gratitude to Widyatama University for providing a wealth of knowledge to its partners. PKBM PMI Taiwan hopes that in the future there will be more cooperation with Widyatama University, and that they will be able to come to Taiwan to teach business classes there.
