He added that learning a foreign language thoroughly requires a significant amount of time and seriousness from teachers. For this reason, certain methods are needed so that foreign language teachers can deliver the material in an interesting way, he said in front of participants consisting of lecturers, teachers, and students majoring in foreign languages from various cities in the archipelago with 50 different paper topics. Also present as speakers were the Head of the West Java Education Office, Prof. Dr. H. Moh. Wahyudin Zarkasyi, CPA, and Prof. Dr. Bambang Kaswanti Purwo from Atmajaya University, Jakarta, who shared their views on the importance of alternative foreign language teaching methods at the secondary and higher education levels. The Chair of the 2012 National Language Seminar, Uning Kuraesin, Dra., M.Pd., who is also the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Languages, said that the seminar aimed to serve as a means of developing language education, both in teaching and in the practical use of language, and as an effort to explore creative ideas in language learning to strengthen national identity. This needs to be done continuously so that language teaching patterns, especially foreign languages, continue to develop so that the general public’s interest in foreign languages will continue to increase.
