Tuesday, January 23, 2023, Universitas Widyatama (UTama) English Study Program held “The International English Festival (EFEST) 2024”. This activity, which is held regularly by UTama’s English Study Program, is for the first time held internationally this year. Five types of competitions, namely Creative Vlog, Business Plan, Speech, Story Telling, and Singing, which were held online and offline, were attended by 41 high schools / equivalent and 12 universities in 16 cities and 5 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Egypt.
Ida Zuraida, S.S., M.Pd., Chair of the EFEST 24 Committee, said that this year’s EFEST held internationally not only celebrates language proficiency, but also fosters a sense of unity and collaboration among students from all over the world. “‘Unleash your Spark: Igniting Passion and Potential” as the theme of The International English Festival (EFEST) 2024, reflects UTama’s commitment as an organizer to empower young thinkers to discover and develop their unique abilities.
Dr. Ervina CM Simatupang, S.S., M.Hum, Head of the English Language Study Program at UTama, said that the English Festival aims to be a forum for high school and university students to hone their potential in various competitions in the field of English. In addition, this event is a promotional event for the English Study Program at Widyatama University to attract prospective students who have an interest and talent in the field of English. At this event, sponsored by TBI Bandung and Bank Mandiri, participants were also invited to learn more about Widyatama University in general, especially the English Study Program, particularly in relation to academics, various study program-specific courses, and the various programs offered.
