Eid al-Adha 1446H at Widyatama University

BANDUNG – Widyatama University once again held a Qurban animal slaughter on the Eid al-Adha 1446 H holiday, which took place on campus on Saturday, June 7th, 2025. The activity of slaughtering and distributing qurban animals involved the synergy between lecturers, employees, and students. By slaughtering four cows, this event aimed to strengthen ties and share happiness with hundreds of residents in Sukapada Village and its surroundings.

Student Synergy and Professionalism in Implementing Qurban

This year’s Eid al-Adha Qurban event showed significant improvement in terms of management and collaboration. The Chair of the Organizing Committee, Kemidjo, explained that around 50 committee members were actively involved, consisting of a combination of the An’naafi Utama Student Activity Unit (UKM) and Widyatama employees. This collaboration created a solid atmosphere of mutual cooperation to ensure the event ran smoothly.

According to Kemidjo, the qurbani slaughtering process went smoothly and solemnly in accordance with Islamic law. “Alhamdulillah, the qurbani slaughtering was very much in accordance with Islamic law because during the slaughtering, takbir and tahmid were recited, so that the slaughtering went very smoothly, Alhamdulillah,” he said. Furthermore, this year’s committee made a new breakthrough by bringing in professional butchers from Soreang to ensure that the meat cutting process was faster and more efficient, overcoming the delays that often occurred in previous years.

Distribution Mechanism for Hundreds of Qurban Meat Packages

The four cows that were sacrificed during this Eid al-Adha celebration came from lecturers and employees of Widyatama University. The meat from these animals was then distributed systematically to ensure it reached the right targets. The organizing committee explained that a total of more than 700 meat packages were distributed to people in need (mustahik) and the committee members on duty.

The distribution process itself still maintains the methods that have been tested in previous years. “The distribution process is the same as in previous years, namely data collection from each neighborhood association (RW), then from each community association (RT), and then representatives come here to pick it up,” explained one of the committee members. In addition to being distributed to residents, the first 28 meat packages were allocated to the shohibul qurban, namely those who participated in the qurban ritual.

The Eid al-Adha Qurban event at Widyatama University is not just an annual religious ceremony. This event is clear evidence of the educational institution’s social awareness and responsibility towards the surrounding community. The active involvement of students in the committee also serves as a means of character building, creating empathy, and training managerial and teamwork skills that will be useful in the future. The success of this event strengthens Widyatama’s image as a campus that not only excels in academics but also cares about humanitarian values.
