SABACIREBON – The Faculty of Visual Communication Design (FDKV) Universitas Widyatama Bandung is currently hosting the INDDEX program, which includes various exhibitions, symposiums, academic tours, and other activities related to art, design, architecture, and applied technology.
The international-level INDDEX (International Degree Design Exchange) event was held at the Widyatama University campus in Bandung from August 21-23, 2023, involving participants from various universities that are members of the Asian International Community of Art & Design (AICAD), with 9 member countries and 20 collaborators participating.
Dean of FDKV Deden Maulana, drs., M.Ds explained, the activity aims to connect active participation activities in the design portfolio of students from several domestic and foreign countries and is open to the public.
INDDEX is one of the activity programs involving 9 member countries and is run by AICAD whose secretariat is at UiTM Malaysia.
According to Deden, this activity took the theme: From Dsigner To Future Designprener which means an activity from a designer to a future “designpreneur” or a professional journey that combines design talent with entrepreneurial spirit.
A “designpreneur” is not only able to produce aesthetic work, but must also be able to embrace the business aspect of their design. “They combine creativity with an understanding of the market and customer needs, creating design solutions that are not only visually appealing, but also economically positive,” said Dean of DKV UTama.
In other words, the transition from designer to “designpreneur” implies an evolution from simply creating designs to managing a successful and innovative design business, Deden said.
