There is something interesting about Widyatama University’s 2018 University Introduction Program (PPU). All new students, who have been divided into groups, are required to develop a student creativity program (PKM) under the guidance of lecturers for several days. The six groups with the best PKM programs presented their work on the 8th day of the PPU, Wednesday (September 5). Poverty alleviation, environmental pollution, the use of science and technology, and several other social issues were raised in Widyatama’s PKM.
The development of the Student PKM Program aims to produce students who are able to analyze problems and potential in society, have empathy and concern for all forms of problems in society, and are able to apply science and technology through teamwork and interdisciplinary approaches, instilling values of (nationalism and the spirit of Pancasila, a strong work ethic, responsibility, independence, leadership, entrepreneurship, and research).

PKM was developed to help students achieve a level of creativity and innovation based on mastery of science and technology and strong faith. In order to prepare themselves to become scholarly leaders, entrepreneurs, and independent and wise individuals, students are given the opportunity to implement their abilities, skills, attitudes, responsibilities, teamwork, and independence through creative activities in their respective fields of study.
On the same occasion, Widyatama University alumni filled the PPU by sharing the experiences of Ray Gutafson Manurung, who currently serves as President Director of PT Inixindo Amiete Mandiri.
“Widyatama students must achieve good learning objectives and learning outcomes, not only in the lecture process, but also in preparing themselves after graduation by enriching their soft skills,” said Ray. (Ed)
