817 students from public and private universities within the LLDIKTI Region VI competed in the National Mathematics and Science Olympiad (ON MIPA-PT) at the Widyatama University Multipurpose Building in Bandung on Tuesday-Wednesday (March 26-27).
The National Mathematics and Science Olympiad or On-MIPA has been held since 2009. One of the objectives of this event is to increase student interest in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as to increase public interest in basic sciences and improve the quality of higher education so that the basic skills of the Indonesian people can be improved and become competitive with other countries.
In the 2019 On-MIPA selection, more than eight hundred students competed. In the field of mathematics, there were 293 students, physics 153 students, chemistry 166 students, and biology 198 students.

Hundreds of students from public and private universities within the LLDIKTI Region VI competed in the National Mathematics Olympiad
Participants were active students registered in the Higher Education Database (PDDikti) for a maximum of 8 semesters, majoring in mathematics and natural sciences or relevant fields.Participants must not have won a gold medal or first place in the ON MIPA-PT or OSN-Pertamina. Specifically for mathematics participants, they must not have participated in the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC).
The subjects tested in mathematics include linear algebra, complex analysis, and combinatorics. The physics subjects include classical mechanics and electrodynamics. The chemistry field covers organic chemistry, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry. The biology field covers cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biodiversity, and evolution.
Students who qualify with first and second place titles will have the opportunity to continue to the national level of the competition. At the national level, participants will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as honorable mentions.
At the national stage, the 20 best students in each field will be selected, with 3 gold medalists, 5 silver medalists, 7 bronze medalists, and 5 honorable mentions.
