500 Students in Bandung and Cimahi Take Trial Class at Widyatama University

Widyatama University held an ‘Opening & Greeting Trial Class’ for high school and vocational school students in Bandung and Cimahi which was held at the Widyatama Student Activity Center (PKM) Building, on Thursday (12/10/2023). A total of 500 students from 82 high schools throughout Bandung Cimahi took part in this activity, which was carried out for the first time by the University located on Jalan Cikutra No. 204 A. Head of the Marketing Subdivision, Arief Noor Iman, said that the concept of this activity was to invite students in Bandung and Cimahi to directly experience the atmosphere of lectures at Widyatama University.

“Participants will be directed to classes to experience what studying at Widyatama is like according to the study programs here,” said Arief when met on the sidelines of the event.

By inviting students to tour the campus and see how learning is done in class, said Arief, they will give them consideration when continuing their education to college.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of Widyatama University, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Suganda, M. Hum, said that through this activity students could get clarity about Widayatma’s profile and provide an attraction for studying at Widyatama. Prof. Dadang said that Widyatama University has various good academic achievements and is not fake because the information provided can be accounted for.

“Hopefully the prospective students will not make the wrong choice, so that later when they go to college there will be a kind of enthusiasm to really want to learn and create achievements so that later the graduates will have the capital to be successful,” said Prof Dadang.

Each generation has a different way of learning and the academic world must be able to keep up with developments for generation Z who are starting to study now.

Widyatama University has also prepared for this challenge by conducting curriculum evaluations and evaluating lecturer competencies.

Prof. Dadang emphasized that the goal is changing times and then natural changes that are accommodated in the teaching and learning process.

“If we don’t evaluate or prepare for changes that occur in the real world, the knowledge given to students will no longer be relevant, and that irrelevance will backfire on us. “We also require lecturers to do research so that their knowledge is truly updated,” he said.

Prof. Dadang said that the world will continue to change in the future, one of which is the digital economy where Widyatama University also has a program to update the curriculum, update infrastructure, master things related to digitalization, which is a platform that must be anticipated in the future.

So that the world of education at Widyatama University is not only aware of text book knowledge but also digitalization knowledge.

This Trial Class activity was also welcomed positively by several students from SMAN 2 Cimahi.
