Forty-two teams, or around 210 participants, are confirmed to attend the Young Diplomacy (YD) short film workshop held this afternoon at Widyatama University, Jalan Cikutra. Each YD workshop team consists of four high school/vocational school students from Bandung, accompanied by a teacher.
YD workshop participants will be given briefing materials on public diplomacy. After the workshop, participants will be directed to participate in a 15-minute short film competition. The resource persons for the material on public diplomacy include the Head of the Asian-African Conference Museum (MKAA) Isman Pasha. The workshop, guided by Indonesian national filmmakers, will be held on August 27-28, 2010.
The workshop materials include a short film competition highlighting the city’s various potentials, which will be held from August 30 to October 20, 2010, with assessment criteria including directing, photography, cinematography, scriptwriting, music illustration, and best actor. Meanwhile, the material on the technical aspects of short film production, such as camera, lighting, script, and editing, will be presented by lecturers from the Faculty of Design and Visual Communication (FDKV) at Widyatama University, Eagle Awards winner Fitriana Naris, and Dua Matahari,” said Erline, PIC of the Young Diplomacy Program.
On the same day, a program workshop was also held, another activity of the Asian-African Conference Festival (KAA Festival), namely The Teacher’s Way (TTW). This workshop on creating learning media about public diplomacy took place from 9:00 a.m. at the STISI Telkom Campus on Jalan Soekarno Hatta. “Unlike YD, TTW was attended by civics and social studies teachers from high schools and vocational schools throughout the city of Bandung. By Thursday (8/26) afternoon, the number of participants reached 27 teams or 54 teachers,” explained TTW PIC, Ary Arhadian. All works submitted by YD and TTW participants will be assessed by a team of judges from the Directorate of Information & Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, learning media experts, and visual communication design experts. An exhibition of the participants’ works from both programs will be held from November 11 to 25, 2010. Meanwhile, the Awarding Competition for the 2010 Asia-Africa Festival will be held at the Merdeka Building on November 25, 2010.***
