On Saturday (9/9), Widyatama University held a graduation ceremony and farewell for 13 students from Cambodia who had completed a year of study, thanks to the collaboration between Widyatama University and the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC).
The event was attended by Widyatama University Rector Dr. Islahuzzaman, S.E, M.Si, Ak, CA, accompanied by Vice Rectors, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Oktri M. Firdaus. ST. MT., and all Faculty Deans. Also in attendance were the Ambassador of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Hor Nam Bora, accompanied by First Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Chhith Hy, and Deputy Director for Programs from SEAMEO SEAMOLEC Mr. Ith Vuthy. The graduation ceremony was held on the 6th floor of Building B at Widyatama University in Bandung.
A total of 13 students from NPIC are students from the Computer Science program and completed their studies in the Bachelor of Informatics Engineering program, Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University. The Rector of Widyatama University, Islahuzzaman, said that the collaboration between the two institutions took the form of a 3 Plus One collaboration, where lectures for 3 years were held in the home country and 1 year in the partner country.
“After implementing Curriculum Mapping to ensure equivalence between the two institutions, in 2016, this exchange program was implemented, whereby Widyatama University sent 9 students to NPIC Cambodia and received 13 students who are graduating today,” said the Widyatama Rector when interviewed by the media.
Furthermore, for the 2017/2018 Academic Year, 10 students from Cambodia will return from two institutions, namely the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) and the Industrial Technical Institute (ITI). “This international student exchange program is one of the manifestations of Widyatama University’s commitment to its 2017/2018 strategic plan,” he said.
On the same occasion, one of the students from Cambodia, IM Senghout, shared his thoughts and impressions of his time studying at Widyatama University, saying that it had been an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. “He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and financial assistance he received during his one year of study at Widyatama University,” said IM Senghout.
