WIDYATAMA FILM AND TELEVISION STUDENTS PRODUCE PMM KEMENDIKBUDRISTEK VIDEO AT SMPN 27 BANDUNG

BANDUNG – Universitas Widyatama, through its Film and Television Study Program, has once again demonstrated its commitment to producing young professionals in the world of film and television by conducting a shooting activity for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) Platform. This activity was held from October 31 to November 5, 2025, involving 25 students and 5 supervising lecturers. The shooting took place every day from morning to afternoon at various locations relevant to the theme.

The Purpose of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) Platform

The Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) organized by Kemendikbudristek aims to support the development of innovation and creative works by students in various fields, such as film and television. In this case, students of the Film and Television Study Program at Universitas Widyatama had the opportunity to develop their practical skills by being directly involved in the production of films or television programs.
This shooting activity not only sharpens technical skills in shooting, editing, and sound processing, but also introduces students to the real challenges of the creative industry. With the guidance of lecturers, students can experience how a film or television project is developed from concept to completion, as well as how to work in a solid team.

Activities that Broaden Students’ Horizons

This shooting activity not only provides practical experience, but also broadens students’ horizons about various aspects of film and television production. From shooting to editing, students must be involved in every step of production to understand how all the elements work together to produce a complete work.

“This program is very useful for training students to work on external projects and also accustoming them to being punctual, disciplined, understanding their tasks, and perhaps gaining inspiration,” explained Akbar, an FTV lecturer who served as director.

Symbolic Closing and Appreciation of Work Through “Watching Together”

This long production process ended with a warm and meaningful closing ceremony. The event was attended by the entire PMM video production team, ranging from students and lecturers from Widyatama University’s FTV to teachers from SMPN 27 Bandung who were actively involved in the video production process.

This closing ceremony was not just a formality, but a symbol of gratitude for the team’s success in completing the government’s mandate through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and

Technology. All production targets were completed on time according to the predetermined schedule, proving the professionalism of the collaboration between the university and the school.

As the highlight of the event, a screening session of the final PMM video production was held. This moment was the core of the closing ceremony, where lecturers, students, and teachers sat together to watch the visualization of their hard work. This session served as a space for appreciation and reflection, strengthening the emotional bond between all parties involved in the creation of this educational work.
