On Thursday (January 19, 2017), Widyatama University officially inaugurated outstanding and talented students as Widyatama Student Ambassadors. This event, previously known as Campus Ambassadors, was first initiated in 2006 and reactivated in 2014. After a long journey, Widyatama Student Ambassador has become an activity with a clear concept and purpose. WSA does not only select outstanding individuals but also those who meet specific criteria as ambassadors. Widyatama Campus Ambassadors are expected to possess special qualifications that go beyond being role models in both academic and non-academic fields; they must also be able to instill positive values not only within the campus environment but also when directly engaging with the community.

The event, held in the Seminar Room on the 4th floor of Building A at Widyatama University, was opened by a Barongsai performance from the Bandung Santo Club (BSTC Widyatama), followed by a speech from the Chair of the Widyatama Foundation Advisory Board, Sri Juniati Riespinoedji, S.E., MBA, and officially opened by the Rector of the University, Dr. Islahuzzaman, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA.
The university has a different Sharing Value, namely DJITU (Disciplined, Honest, Innovative, Diligent, Persistent), which will become a distinctive feature of the Widyatama Student Ambassador. In this case, the Student Ambassador itself has several training programs related to the development of the above criteria, including Public Speaking, Social Etiquette, Table Manners, Live Values, Self Improvement (Honesty and Integrity). It is hoped that the training provided to Student Ambassadors can be implemented in their social lives. One concrete example of WSA’s active involvement in various fields is the Widyatama International Seminar on Sustainability (WISS) 2016 with the theme “Addressing Global Sustainability Challenges in Business and Industry Through Technology, Governance and Culture” held at the Trans Luxury Hotel.

Due to the numerous criteria that made the selection process so rigorous, several candidates who participated were eliminated. The initial selection process began with 68 participants, leaving 12 finalists ready to compete in various fields. The 12 finalists for Widyatama Student Ambassador were then divided into 6 categories, including Academic Ambassador, Tourism Ambassador, Anti-Drug Ambassador, Anti-Tobacco Ambassador, Friendship Ambassador, and Environmental Ambassador.
Of course, with the strict criteria in place, the Student Ambassador selection was carried out by judges who are experienced in their respective fields. “The selection of campus ambassadors is a means of information, promotion, and motivation for students to explore their potential. The Campus Ambassadors will take Widyatama University to an even higher level internationally. Widyatama Student Ambassadors are not only judged on their physical appearance, but also on their intellectual intelligence and noble personality, so that they can become role models for other students,” said Ervina C. Simatupang, chair of the event.
The series of events ended with the coronation of the Widyatama Student Ambassadors, who were selected from several finalists and are now trusted to be the Student Ambassadorsof Widyatama University for 2017-2018, including:
