Widyatama University participated in the Indonesia Accounting Fair 2018 (IAF 2018) held at the University of Indonesia, Depok. The Indonesia Accounting Fair is a competition held annually by the University of Indonesia with a theme based on the latest accounting regulations. This year, the Indonesia Accounting Fair 2018 explored the theme “The New Leasing Era” (IFRS 16), improving the quality of financial reporting with the single lease standard. This year, Widyatama University sent one team consisting of three members, namely Delya Rhamatunnisa (20), Juannes Alfredo (20), and Dessyana Adhiarizki (20).
The Indonesia Accounting Fair 2018 began with a Preliminary Online round held on January 27, 2018. The 24 best teams that passed the Preliminary round will enter the Main Round, and after completing all rounds, the 5 best teams will advance to the final round. This year, the participants who passed the Main Round were Widyatama University (1 team), De La Salle (1 team), International Islamic University Malaysia (1 team), KDU UC Malaysia (1 team), Mercubuana University (3 teams), STEI SEBI (1 team), STIE Kesatuan Bogor (2 teams), Trisakti School of Management (2 teams), Airlangga University (2 teams), Bina Nusantara University (1 team), Diponegoro University (1 team), Pelita Harapan University (2 teams), Ganesha Education University (1 team), Surabaya University (2 teams), and Widyamandala University (2 teams).
Monday (March 5) The Main Round was held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, Depok. It consisted of two rounds, namely the Accounting Quiz and the Amazing Race. The Accounting Quiz consisted of three rounds, namely Multiple Choice (individual), Pandora Box (team), and Tic Tac Toe (team). Meanwhile, the Amazing Race round consists of games provided by the committee, and for each game, the committee gives multiple choice questions that must be answered by the team.
Tuesday (March 6) The 24 participating teams of the 2018 Indonesia Accounting Fair attended the National Seminar held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, Depok. The National Seminar covered five topics: The Overview of Leasing Contracts under IFRS 16, Tax Implications on IFRS 16, Implications for Lessors and Lessees, Accounting and Financial Reporting Framework for Bank Indonesia, and Strategies in Facing the Leases Standard.
Wednesday (March 7) The 24 participating teams of the 2018 Indonesia Accounting Fair took part in the Open Discussion round held at KPMG, Jakarta. The Open Discussion involved each team discussing the sub-theme that had been given to them beforehand.
Thursday (March 8) The 24 participating teams of the 2018 Indonesia Accounting Fair attended IFRS 16 training held at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Jakarta. Participants were given training on how to identify lease agreements under IFRS 16, calculate the contract value of these lease agreements, and the impact of IFRS 16 on financial statements.
In addition, on that day, 5 teams were announced to have qualified for the final round, namely Trisakti School of Management (2 teams), Bina Nusantara University (2 teams), and Pelita Harapan University (1 team). The teams advancing to the final round are those with the highest cumulative scores from the Main Round, which included an accounting quiz, Amazing Race, short essay, and open discussion. Widyatama University did not qualify for the final round.
Friday (March 9) The event closed with the announcement of the teams that had qualified. The teams that qualified for the final round will compete at ACCA, Jakarta. Meanwhile, teams that did not qualify for the final round will be given a company visit to IDX Indonesia. The event continued with a Gala Dinner and announcement held at the Jakarta City Hall. The winning teams were Trisakti School of Management (1st place), Trisakti School of Management (2nd place), and Bina Nusantara University (3rd place).
