Widayatama University (UTama) in Bandung has made Indonesia proud on the international stage with the announcement of the winners of the 4th AICAD Invention, Innovation & Design (AICAD IID 2021).

The event was organized by UiTM Perak Malaysia and held online on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

In the 4th AICAD IID event, UTama won five academic medals, namely 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

AICAD IID is an academic forum for students, lecturers/teachers, and professionals.

Before the pandemic, AICAD IID was held face-to-face. It was held on a rotating basis. The last one was in 2019, when the 3rd AICAD IID was held in Jakarta.

This was stated by Deden Maulana, Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design (DKV) UTama, Thursday (11/18/2021).

“Alhamdulillah, we were able to achieve success at the prestigious AICAD IID IV event. This achievement is inseparable from the hard work of our students and lecturers. This includes the support of the rectorate and the foundation. Not to mention Prof. Obi, Rector of UTama. The invention panel from UTama consisted of lecturers and students from the DKV and Multimedia study programs,” said Deden.

Deden further said that the titles of the invention panels submitted by UTama lecturers and students carried the themes, “Work School Learning Based Project,” “Dandy Steak and Coffee House Menu Design Catalog Design,” “Branding Strategy of Suke House Bandung,” “Application of Fine Composition Design with Ethnic Elements,” and “Cimahi City Military Tourism (Alternative Educational Objectives Building Cultural Stories).”

The universities participating in the event included UiTM Perak Malaysia, Sultan Idris Education University, University of Science Malaysia, UCSI University, MMU Multimedia University, University of Malaysia Kelantan, ASWARA Malaysia, Emirat University, and Multan College Atrs. Meanwhile, the representatives from Indonesia were Widyatama University, Sebelas Maret University, Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture (ISBI), Multimedia Nusantara University, and Pembangunan Jaya University.

“The Visual Communication Design and Multimedia Study Program at Widyatama University continuously encourages students to actively participate in various academic activities, including writing high-quality articles,” said Deden, who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Visual Communication Design.

“They also create and discover innovative works that are relevant to community needs, especially in the field of applied design, developing design portfolios as a strategy for self-performance based on reliable expertise,” he added.

In addition to participating in international events, Deden said, there are several activities that will be regulated by the DKV Faculty, including student and lecturer exchanges and joint research between institutions.

He said this is in line with the implementation of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design’s Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

“Widyatama University continues to make breakthroughs in order to provide optimal services for students so that they can advance and develop on a national and international scale,” he concluded.
